ROYGBIVROYGBIV

i love the smell of rain
petrichor
and if your lucky
a rainbow follows
right over your home
and maybe,
just maybe
a double
 a blazing sunset
is reflected
in rainclouds above the wasatch mountains
 wow!

AGE OF ACCOUNTABILITY

most often
sugardoodle
will have an idea to supplement
the primary lesson

or
i will have an idea
in the form of pure inspiration.

today,
i felt stumped.
sometimes
having an activity for children to work on
while i teach
holds their interest.

it is like a discussion at the round table
only ours
is rectangle.

there is a book
by
jenna mitchell
"learning about my baptism
an activity book"

perfect for a lesson
on

WASATCH LAWNS THE DAY AFTER

may 28, 2013
i felt too sick for work
nor did i wish to expose anyone
to the ????
that i had
so i did what i had hoped to do yesterday
i took a drive to WASATCH MEMORIAL
the crowds had departed
but
a sea of beautiful flowers
remained
unlike the sunshine of yesterday
gray clouds
released fresh rain
grandpa garff
loved the song

aunt donna always sends the lovliest of  flowers to royal and marba

"raindrops keep fallin' on my head"
so the weather
added charm to a lovely array
of blossoms

further east
was
uteva
rick's mother

i wish i had brought
bouquets of bright bouquets
of gorgeous flowers
i won't forget next year

interesting
that uteva is by woodrow marriott
further east
was a playful display
that caught my attention.
my heart was touched
and saddened.
this little boy
passed on at the age of one.
there were bats and balls
balloons
paper lanterns
photos
foam glasses
pinwheels
toys
it was quite the sight

i felt grateful
that
i had the opportunity to pay my respects
and that
i made the time

HATS OFF TO THE BIRTHDAY GIRL

HATS OFF
michelle hart bodine
celebrates 48
yesiree
may 28, 1965
was near one of the greatest days of my life
baby hat found on google images-jasmine rupp photography
i got
 a beautiful BABY sister
and a best friend.
now
 she has grown

and so
has the HAT boutique
of the woman of many HATS.
my sister and friend is
my BEAUTICIAN

not only did she do her own hair,
she was the master braider,
the perm setter/roller of all perm givers
(not limited to the female population either).
i cannot count how many perms she gave me
and then all the times i took the scissors to my own hair...
she rescued me and on her own dime.

and BAKER
she is the Mrs. Fields
of Nestle Toll House.
tens of thousands of cookies later,
she has it down to a science.
while in jr. high,
one bride
asked her to make cookies for her reception...
an unofficial caterer

a SCHOLAR
high school valedictorian
scholarship to brigham young university

a WIFE
to a loving, successful, giving husband
where clearly
FAMILY FIRST
became their motto.
a CLASSY FASHIONISTA
 MOTHERis another fabulous HAT

to four amazingly wonderful children...
 daughters

and sons

she had to be a PARTY HAT mom

with themed birthdays
and a variety of celebrations
events, plays, games, recitals

which meant
CHAUFFEUR
in the little white van
or
personally
in a bright red mini cooper

DISNEYLAND
HAT AND EARS
and all of the above
if you look real close
you will see a hidden mickey
in
michelle.
my sister is disney's best customer.
it is my quest to find out just how many times
she has been to disneyland.
speaking of ears...
chelle is
a first class

LISTENER

she is the glue
the one that connects the dots
and nails the sibling act together
keeping us all in tact
a real  BUILDER so to speak.
lest i forget the ultimate AUNT HAT
from books
to clothes
to swimming suits
to hebgen retreats

the AUNT HAT she wears with flair.
one night out of the year
she dons

the WITCHES HAT
and delivers
a bone chilling cackle to all the nieces and nephews

i think of the many
women,
especially young women in which she has influenced...

the EXEMPLER HAT,
would have to be included.
her youth and vitality
are adaptive qualities
that make her just one of the young women

and where would we be withou the FAMILY PARTY,
 WEST YELLOWSTONE,
CAMELBACK,
HEBGEN,
GROWIN' UP IN IDAHO HAT
sitting at home...that's where.

i love the MOTHER OF
THE BRIDE HAT
and the
take MOM TO TEA HAT

the PEOPLE's PEOPLE HAT
that speaks in action
wherever you are
i am there too

always and forever

most recently
the HAT of being a MISSIONARY MOM

often the CONTEMPLATIVE and
REFLECTIVE HAT
that inspires peace after weekly visits to the temple
she serves.
she gives.
she loves.

she is the QUEEN
in her own kingdom.
but mostly
i love the INVISIBLE HATS of dear sisters
and sweetest of friends

and the HAT that binds generations
oh how i wish
i could be celebrating with her
instead,
i remove my HUMBLE HAT

humbled to know her
and call her sis
and then send her one simple idea

happy birthday michelle
i love you

WHAT WILL I REMEMBER ON MEMORIAL DAY

it's a beautiful day
i am grateful to be alive
today is may 27, 2013
MEMORIAL day
a day to REMEMBER
i peek outside

the flags are waving
i put on my shirt

sure to help me REMEMBER
i set the timer so as not to miss
participating in a national moment of silence
for our veterans
and those suffered and sacrificed for the freedom
i am enjoying
noah is reading to me at the table
plastic glasses with one plastic eyebrow ?

when the buzzer rings
it is 12:00 sharp
all action ceases and silence true silence commences

i am thinking about
matthew smith

and his
PROUD AMERICAN
GOLD STAR MOM

to make this day MEMORABLE for my
son and his friends,
we ended the evening at jordan commons
to see the long awaited
"ironman"
