MERRY CHRISTMAS PRIMARY CHILDREN

december lessons
focused on the savior
 we remembered him
and celebrated his birth.

the first sunday,
each child received a CANDY CANE
i held it up as the letter "J"
"J" is for jesus,
a name
i will hold dear.
jesus is the author of"JOY".
 in the word "JOY"
"J" stands for jesus
"O" for others
"Y" then yourself.
true "JOY"
is the outcome
as we put jesus first
and others before ourselves.
of course,
we turned the letter "J"
into the shepherd's staff.
jesus is our shepherd.
he will guide us back to  our
father in heaven
and gather us when we our lost.
the second sunday,
each child was given
JINGLE BELLS
and
chocolate bells with this reminder:
that the shepherd knows his sheep
each, with a bell placed around the neck
is safely guided back to the fold
our shepherd,
the savior,
knows us by name.

the third sunday,
i brought CUPCAKES and a nice table cloth.
we had a birthday party for jesus.

we made presents for him
and sang happy birthday to him.
we looked at pictures and talked about
the life and miracles of
this special person in our life.

PARENTS HELP US LEARN

if i had not procrastinated,
i would have liked to have made
the home in this handout
similar to an advent calendar
where the windows open
and the answer is revealed.
there are many primary songs
that remind us
that heavenly father
gave us earthly PARENTS
to guide and direct his children
we sang our way through this lesson
using some primary songs to help us fill in the blanks.

is there anything sweeter
than
goodly PARENTS

TESTIMONY BUILDER

i always think of sunday
as a peaceful day...
away from phone calls
and running errands.

it was nice to have the morning free
or any kind of preparations
as my partner was scheduled
to give the lesson.

on the way to the classroom,
my partner's husband stopped me in the hall
and said that his wife was ill.
i did not even have my manual.

i explained the situation.
we began with prayer
and had a review of previous lessons
and then
allowed inspiration to take over.

i had some photo cards
and the letter from my niece
that is serving in honduras.
week before last,
we had a lesson on how we can be missionaries now.
i shared hermana bodine's letter.
the children selected a photo card
and wrote to missionaries.

we discussed the importance of having a testimony
so that when a missionary opportunity presents itself,
we are prepared.

a TESTIMONY
that jesus christ lives and is our savior.
he died for us and atoned for our sins.

a TESTIMONY
that jesus christ's church and gospel has been restored to
the earth and that we belong to that very church...
the church of jesus christ of latter day saints.

a TESTIMONY
that joseph smith is the prophet of the restoration. he read the bible.
he followed the bible's words to ask of god.
the heavens were opened and he saw and spoke
with god the father
and his son jesus christ

 a TESTIMONY
that a prophet leads christ's church and is the mouthpiece
for jesus through revelation.

a TESTIMONY
that the book of mormon is another testament of jesus christ
and is true.
reading the book of mormon and other scriptures will bring us
closer to god
and give us answers and direction.

there was a music stand in the corner.
the words entered my mind,
"have them practice their TESTIMONY"

i brought the music stand to the front of the classroom.
children continued on the cards
while one by one,
each shared their TESTIMONY.

for not having anything prepared,
there was an ever present lesson available
for all of us to learn and be reminded of...

TESTIMONY

AGE OF ACCOUNTABILITY

most often
sugardoodle
will have an idea to supplement
the primary lesson

or
i will have an idea
in the form of pure inspiration.

today,
i felt stumped.
sometimes
having an activity for children to work on
while i teach
holds their interest.

it is like a discussion at the round table
only ours
is rectangle.

there is a book
by
jenna mitchell
"learning about my baptism
an activity book"

perfect for a lesson
on
ACCOUNTABILITY

MOUTH OF BABES

there has been a slight change
in my primary calling
i have moved from
the fourth grade children
to the
first grade children
i had forgotten their pure innocence

in the middle of the lesson
one of the little darlings
raised her hand
"who invented heavenly father"
the other teacher paused
then replied
"just like we will have opportunities
to become gods and goddesses
i am sure that heavinly father
had a heavenly father"
"and who invented that heavenly father?"
kind of deep for a 6 year old

then came the ctr shield to color
one of the boys
exclaimed
"coloring ! i love to color ! it is one of my
favorite hobbits !"
i love my primary class
