DAVID OSMOND-DANNY BOY ON MEMORIAL DAY

i look out my window...
the flag is posted and waving.
i reflect on the purpose of this day
away from work.

REMEMBERING.
a day to remember
those that have lived great
and have moved beyond their earthly home.

in a years time,
stephen garff marriott

and
maxine rice garff
are on my list of thoughtfulness.

this was the day
MEMORIAL DAY
that i would meet grandma garff
at wasatch lawns
to place flowers on grandpa's headstone.
now she joins him
and as much as i wanted to honor her
and reminisce...
* i just wasn't quite ready.

rick golfed with friends
noah went to seven peaks
and i cleaned
cleaned
like a madwoman
and there is still more to do

later we celebrated
and
barbecued.
grandma and grandpa
joined
and we
REMEMBERED

mom and dad,
with great efforts and persistance on their part
made sure that grandma garff's headstone
was there on wasatch lawns
for this day of
REMEMBERING

this video was presented
to me.
most fitting for the day of
REMEMBERING

happy MEMORIAL DAY

*on may 28, 2014,
on the return trip from heber city,
i stopped and had a moment
 kisses to my grandma garff
a moment for grandpa royal
and grandma marba,
another to breathe in the beauty of the surroundings...
expressions of love
and hopes for forgiveness
to
teva

WASATCH LAWNS THE DAY AFTER

may 28, 2013
i felt too sick for work
nor did i wish to expose anyone
to the ????
that i had
so i did what i had hoped to do yesterday
i took a drive to WASATCH MEMORIAL
the crowds had departed
but
a sea of beautiful flowers
remained
unlike the sunshine of yesterday
gray clouds
released fresh rain
grandpa garff
loved the song

aunt donna always sends the lovliest of  flowers to royal and marba

"raindrops keep fallin' on my head"
so the weather
added charm to a lovely array
of blossoms

further east
was
uteva
rick's mother

i wish i had brought
bouquets of bright bouquets
of gorgeous flowers
i won't forget next year

interesting
that uteva is by woodrow marriott
further east
was a playful display
that caught my attention.
my heart was touched
and saddened.
this little boy
passed on at the age of one.
there were bats and balls
balloons
paper lanterns
photos
foam glasses
pinwheels
toys
it was quite the sight

i felt grateful
that
i had the opportunity to pay my respects
and that
i made the time

WHAT WILL I REMEMBER ON MEMORIAL DAY

it's a beautiful day
i am grateful to be alive
today is may 27, 2013
MEMORIAL day
a day to REMEMBER
i peek outside

the flags are waving
i put on my shirt

sure to help me REMEMBER
i set the timer so as not to miss
participating in a national moment of silence
for our veterans
and those suffered and sacrificed for the freedom
i am enjoying
noah is reading to me at the table
plastic glasses with one plastic eyebrow ?

when the buzzer rings
it is 12:00 sharp
all action ceases and silence true silence commences

i am thinking about
matthew smith

and his
PROUD AMERICAN
GOLD STAR MOM

to make this day MEMORABLE for my
son and his friends,
we ended the evening at jordan commons
to see the long awaited
"ironman"
