LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE

i have ideas
ideas
and then i have ideas
and a whole lot more.

once while shopping at walmart
i saw the most darling
compact mirror.
one adorable little mirror
  the color of SUNSHINE
with a cheery daisy attached.

i grabbed at least a dozen...
no daughters,
a few young nieces,
and one
LITTLE MISS
 SUNSHINE

if i had a product,
i would need a spokesmodel...
i knew just the girl

deemed and crowned
my LITTLE MISS
 SUNSHINE

arrangements were made for the photo shoot.
props were gathered
and as i met with
with

LITTLE MISS
 SUNSHINE
the backyard spoke loud and clear...
yard, neatly groomed
shady trees
fire pit
swing set
slide
cement benches
garden boxes
hop scotch
statues of children
wheelbarrows and wagons
a plethora of items for staging
“this is where LITTLE
MISS SUNSHINE grows,
this is where she is nurtured and blooms.
this is where we will start...
in her own backyard

glimpses from the photo shoot:

Little Yellow Typewriter:
what is your idea of FUN?

Little Miss Sunshine:
i play with my guenia pig, lenny.
i take sewing on thursdays and i
also like calico critters.
(little miss sunshine's idea of scarecrow...
adorable, sweet, and one step shy
of serving up biscuits
and lemonade for an afternoon tea party.)

LYT: how do you spend your spare time?

LMS:naturally, i like to play with friends and
my pet lenny. if i watch any television at all,
it is cartoons. i also like to read.

LYT: mmm, then you must have
a favorite book...
LMS: oh...yes, that would be
“key to rondo” by
emily rodda

LYT: i guess i better start recreational
reading and put that book at
the top of the list.

LMS: (her eyes twinkle and the sun kisses her
checks as we continue in this serene setting.)

LYT: one thing i know about people, and
especially children...
we love a tasty treat
every now and again.
what would
the ideal treat be for you?

LMS: a symphony bar or sour patch
watermelon candy

LYT: i think, “our little miss sunshine...
selected a treat of class and culture,
the symphony
 and one with
a kick...perfect...
she has diversity.”
(i continue with the questions)
speaking of symphony bars
reminds me of music...
do you have a favorite song?
LMS: “child’s prayer” by
janice kapp perry

LYT: oh i love that one too
(clearly she is spiritually rooted...
i smile with pleasure
i see so many youngin’s
with their ipods listening
to the worlds trends and teeny boppers
and she chose "child's prayer)

LYT: in all the world, what brings you the
greatest joy?

LMS: my FAMILY !

LYT: let’s see if I have this right...
you have an older sister
that just started high school,
an older brother
at the junior high,
two amazingly supportive, loving,
adoring parents
and one pet, lenny.
LMS: (nods with a smile)

LYT: you seem to be so well rounded in your
likes and dislikes...
so at peace and grounded...
tell me what is your
 greatest dream for the future?

LMS: to be the first GIRL PRESIDENT !

LYT: well, you would certainly have my vote.

while

LITTLE MISS
 SUNSHINE

 makes a wardrobe change.
she looks stunning...
the pure,
clean,
simple
kind of beautiful
the kind
that takes your breath away

and off to the second location
daybreak lake...
