around 8:30 p.m.

there was a bewilderingly

haunting and very loud

knock 

the rush of adrenaline

coursed through our veins

and there at the door

was a plate

of delicious

warm

homemade cookies

it was now our turn to conjure up

some 

tricks and treats 

for some neighbors 

unaware

chewy brownies

iced sugar cookies

pumpkin bread

chocolate covered pretzels

and candy corns

atop a pumpkin face grin

an absolutely

  haunting night

noah, rick, and myself

went for a 

delivery run

noah rang the doorbell

and ran like mad

"my legs are still shaking"

two new homes 

can declare

is there someone

in your neighborhood

that needs to report
