 my primary class built a BOAT

1) found out how (youtube) to fold an orgami BOAT

2) type, cut and paste lesson objective on the side of the BOAT

3) print out lesson handout for the sail

3 GUYS LEMONADE

how many weeks?

how many fridays and saturdays

did i hear the constant

"please mom please

will you take us to the store so we can get

stuff for a LEMONADE STAND?"

why didn't that sound appealing?

maybe because it seemed like a bit of extra work on my end,

and an extra wad of cash,

for little or no return

and an extra 30

  extra sticky fingerprints around the house

today, i had a bit of sunshine in my soul

from a miracle that transpired earlier in the week

noah, jaxson, and alex

joined me in a ride to walmart

cups,

napkins,

LEMONADE,

LEMONS,

LEMON jolly ranchers

ice,

pour free container

and brightly colored popsicles.

while the gents set up the stand,

i painted a sign

"3 GUYS LEMONADE"

when i stepped out the door

i could hear their chants,

"LEMONADE for sale...

come get some LEMONADE."

i saw the sign dance in noah's hands

with music playing on the ipod  

my heart leapt for joy

 i thought

why didn't i do this sooner?

ONE "MOORE" TORNADO

one of my best childhood friends

moved into my neighborhood

from oklahoma.

i still rememeber the words

used to describe the phenomenon

TORNADO

green, purple, gray, dark sky

warning sirens

dead still silence

just before the chaos

a sound simailar to that

 of  a loud train rushing through 

forcibly producing devastation and destruction

then the calm of the ferocious storm

passed...

leaving behind it's signature

that was the beginning 

of the dreams and the nightmares

the beauty and the ugliness

the fascination and the fear

with TORNADO

the news declared

TORNADOS in texas

five, maybe six
TORNADOS

then one "MOORE" in oklahoma... 

may 20, 2013

TORNADO alley, now in full force

this one,

the worst of it's kind

described by the fujita scale

incredible TORNADO

winds 216-318 mph

strong frame houses lifted off foundation

and carried considerable distances to disintegrate;

autmobile sized missles fly through the air in excess of 100 meters

trees debarked

steel reinforced concrete structures badly damaged

and yet

interestingly enough

the spirit of america

really shines through

the american pride

that says UNITED we stand !

that beckons how can we help ?

and mourns with those that suffer...

FOR THE GRADUATE

april showers

bring may flowers

usher in june graduations 

i am literally showered wtih

beautiful announcements

declaring words of accomplishment

ceremonies and celebrations

fulfillment of dreams...

each part of the stationery

from stamp

to adorable nameplate becomes a treasure to me

and yet

the time comes when it must be

scrapped 

in a can or in a book

or

{i}

is for

idea

a memory box

1 - the individual parts 

 

2 - school name and words of inspiration scrolled and tied with a string to fit nicely inside the box

3 - fold the boxes

(I do not know who to credit for teaching me how to fold the boxes. It came on a handwritten piece of paper which I committed it to memory.)

With a graduation announcement, I was able to do a nesting box

 so that every part of the announcement could be preserved.

4 - glue the stamp and return address inside the box

5 - place scrolls inside the box

6 - tie a ribbon around the box and attach it to the name plate

7 - I even saved the vellum that was stamped with "class of 2013" by folding it into a miniature envelope with the original envelope seal glued to the back of the vellum

8 - place the photo in a clip or cute frame
