GOOD TIMBER

the tree that never had to fight
for sun and sky and air and light
but stood out in the open plain
and always got it's share of rain,
never became a forest king
but lived and died a scrubby thing.
the man who never had to toil
to gain and farm his patch of soil
who never had to win his share
of sun and sky and light and air,
never became a manly man
but lived and died as he began
good timber does not grow with ease,
the stronger wind, the stronger trees
the further sky, the greater length,
the more the storm, the more the strength
by sun and cold, by rain and snow
in trees and men good timbers grow.
where thickest lies the forest growth
we find the patriarchs of both.
and they hold counsel with the stars
whose broken branches show the scars
of many winds and much of strife.
this is the common law of life.

CHARLIE'S ANGELS
CHARLIE'S ANGELS
Last year,
just for fun
just "BECK"ause
I took a few photos
I grew up in the age of Farrah Fawcett and Charlie's Angels
As I walk into work each morning
I am tempted to say "Good Morning Angels"
hence this photo
2011 Angel Photo Shoot
2013 Angels
When I saw the Angels in their Ugly Christmas Sweaters
I could not resist another photo shoot
this time in the form of a magazine

FROM THE KITCHEN
I am known for not cooking or baking. In fact, the few times I have put forth real effort...
disaster strikes. Once in a blue moon and just "BECKause" something turns out.
Christmas Cupcakes for the Ward Christmas Party
Christmas Berry Pie with Fudge (Joan Harris) and Peanut Butter Blossoms
Pear and Mandarin Orange Salad with Feta Cheese, Candied Pecans and Cranberries
This one can also be done in a Pear Stack
