SUMMERTIME

when your kids are out of school?

do you hang out at SCHEELS

 (absolutely not up in the ferris wheel?)

under the beautiful sky so blue?

do you meet up with abe?

shoot at the hunting arcade?

drive off in a jeep?

is that what you do?

so do i

 do you have overnighters, 

(pool side service and swimming)

with your grandparents at the MARRIOTT?

do you go to fore lakes
for  JUNIOR GOLF lessons to take?

and HELP your dad with his TOOLS?

get a SANDWICH at MOOCHIE'S?

do you stand on the corner

and sell LEMONADE?

is that what you do?

3 GUYS LEMONADE

how many weeks?

how many fridays and saturdays

did i hear the constant

"please mom please

will you take us to the store so we can get

stuff for a LEMONADE STAND?"

why didn't that sound appealing?

maybe because it seemed like a bit of extra work on my end,

and an extra wad of cash,

for little or no return

and an extra 30

  extra sticky fingerprints around the house

today, i had a bit of sunshine in my soul

from a miracle that transpired earlier in the week

noah, jaxson, and alex

joined me in a ride to walmart

cups,

napkins,

LEMONADE,

LEMONS,

LEMON jolly ranchers

ice,

pour free container

and brightly colored popsicles.

while the gents set up the stand,

i painted a sign

"3 GUYS LEMONADE"

when i stepped out the door

i could hear their chants,

"LEMONADE for sale...

come get some LEMONADE."

i saw the sign dance in noah's hands

with music playing on the ipod  

my heart leapt for joy

 i thought

why didn't i do this sooner?

MEET PAPA MURPHY

it is friday night and noah has a
few buddies over. 

if i had a reputation for
 being a great cook, 

i may have done something
 on the grill...

but there is no pretending,
i am not and that is when i remember
 my absolute favorite pizza guy, 

mr. PAPA MURPHY.

he has been in our home
since i was first married.

no matter the location, he is a constant...
outstanding, flavorful pizza.

our neighborly
 mr. PAPA MURPHY
 is located on the corner of
 2700 west and 9000 south

this is tasty pizza that is always
 served up warm because
 it comes fresh out of the oven in my home. 

i love the idea that i can pick up
several hand tossed, freshly prepared pizzas

put some in the freezer
to be enjoyed later

 and one in the oven
 to be savored immediately

after all what's more american
 than an italian pizza pie?

(laugh out loud)

it was a hit with noah and his friends
which puts a bright smile in my heart
