ONLY ONE

“in all the world ONLY ONE”

jw marriott’s camelback inn
bears an imprint
upon entrance
to this little piece of paradise
“in all the world ONLY ONE”

yes
ONLY ONE camelback...
where time stands still.
there, a large clock
with hands that never move
remind guests
to be present,
live in the moment,
do not let a minute slip away

and for one week...
time would do just that,
stand still.
 for moments in time
to be recorded.

one need not wonder,
the happenings
that unfold
while the clock is still...

MULTIPLE BIRTHDAYS CELEBRATED

MUMMY MOUNTAIN
treasures of all kinds
a reunion of sorts
with
birthday celebrations
being the highlight.
happy birthday uncle bill !
happy birthday debbie !
magicians, line dancing,
a barbecue and
daffodil cakes.
beginning at dusk,
it became the perfect setting for
one golden evening.

WORSHIP
in the local church
there, a familiar face before me
belonging to one of my student’s mom
from a long time ago.
on this sabbath,
we are surrounded by the lovliness
of spring
and God’s great and wondrous creations

the POOL
swimming of course,
for rest and relaxation
orange freeze
orange freeze
orange freeze
and orange freeze
onion rings
homemade chips
smoothies of every flavor
creative nail art,
visiting,
laughter,
reading,
napping,
welcoming the embrace of the sun’s warmth.

lovely RITA'S
delicious food
puff pastry
ambiance
and conversation with those held dear
and yet another
birthday celebration

LO-LO'S
fried chicken and golden waffles
for true southern cookin’
i hunkered down for
cheese grits
and service with a smile
“what.?!?..you’ve never heard what does the fox say?”

the SPA
breathe in beauty
breathe our stress
breathe in sunshine
breathe out snow

PEORIA VENTURE

allie's basketball game
at her brand new school
followed by
the home tour on
tonopah drive
and a delicious meal
by camille.

MALL
“but mom, do we have to bring her?”
for more mannequin madness

hats
hats
hats
socks
and to

pick on ridiculous aunt
while singing
"haaapppppeeeeeee"

NOTORIOUS
for their burgers,

but the salmon salad
was divine.
notorious
for carrying my camera,
i left it charging
and so...
no pics !

the DESERT CANVAS
sunsets, spectacular views,
a tapestry of wonders
 glorious
spellbinding
reflective
brilliant
poetic

LAUNDRY

GRANDMA'S TREAT
to
paradise bakery

while the gents
off to priesthood session
for a spiritual feast.

GIFTING for souveniers

FAMILY
meetings and gatherings
a hunting we will go,
a hunting we will go
for treasure?
for gold?
for memories?
for EASTER EGGS.
and do not be surprised
if you find one from previous years
faded candy wrappers
covered in dirt
and one golden egg
containing big bucks
and more birthday wishes
to
allie
and
jesus

what do you do when time stands still ?

I'M BEAUTIFUL

every now and again,
serendipity happens.
a special occasion was about to take place,
the kind of event that deserved
a touchup on those
 stubborn grays
and i knew just the place
I'M BEAUTIFUL
betsy smith, my stylist and friend
always greets me with
a warm welcome
she listens
cosults
and delivers beauty
artistically !
a real class act.

after moments of pampering,
i noticed an advertisement
 announcing a
“spring fling”
march 12, 2014
i inquired...
it sounded divine
and i am acutely aware that
I'M BEAUTIFUL
never disappoints.
the ambiance,
the decor,
the clever quotes that adorn the walls,
the RED lipstick,

the services available,
the new locale for fashionista and stylish

 blou j boutique...

everything about it speaks
I'M BEAUTIFUL
and so the story goes...
i joined women at the so called
“spring fling”
I'M BEAUTIFUL
knows just how to
party pretty !
after browzing and mingling
a bit,
a mosied over to blou j
for a pair of boots
that caught my eye a week ago...
 forest green
lace up boots that were bound
to
adorn my feet
and refer to me as
'tres chic'.
i fell for an ivory frolic

that i just had to have
to put the fling in my spring
and the jewelry...
how will i ever decide ?

geometric shaped rings
that flip to reveal
the appropriate word
true or false ?
to infinity and beyond ?
bracelets and bangles
bearing the phrase
love is my religion
elase medical spas
was a guest host
with specials on botox and fills
by Julie Nielsen Hall
i had to have the whole experience
and it was worth every RED penny.
a bubbly effervescent personality
endeared guests throughout...
it was I'M BEAUTIFUL
owner
cori davis-kahler.
she was not pretentious
as i imagined a salon with such class
had the potential to be.
her underlying message
was as empowering as she was:

i am so glad you came...
that is just what we want
 to help women (and men)
 tap into their own
be~YOU~tiful
and be able to declare
I'M BEAUTIFUL...
to brave the RED lipstick
that accentuates femininity
and boldly states
 these women made

this “spring fling”
a five star event.
see for yourself.

i'm beautiful

ONE ROOM SCHOOL HOUSE

in the mission statement
at ELA,
HISTORY
is strongly emphasized
and is to be integrated
in ever subject matter.

i do not know how the idea was born.
i do not know why 1863 was chosen,
but i am sure
the gettysburg address anniversary
had something to do with it.

january 24, 1863
upon leaving my home
noah took one look at me
with bulging eyes
"you look so old and so real"
(newsflash...in a month
a half century and i am real...)

the moment i put the opticals upon my nose
and laced that last boot,
sternness, somberness and
seriousness encased me in such a way
that i did not know how to act.

 i visited classrooms
and observed with my
picture box.
i was in amazement of the many
individuals that came dressed in character.

students were assigned to a
ONE ROOM SCHOOL HOUSE
alphabetically
accomplishing two purposes
school with siblings
school with a range of ages

no electricity,
just the natural light and lantern
boys seated on one side,

girls on the other
students wrote on slates
with
chalk
there were spelling bees
lessons on cursive
recitations
schoolyard games

teachers were stern
non complying students
stood with their nose to the wall
for the semi full
experience...
