are the themes of Kris Belcher’s life.
 Left completely blind
 and emotionally shattered
in 2003 from her second battle with cancer,

RADIOACTIVE SUN

smilebox collages below
track the movement and color of the SUN.
the color is not accurate
as the blood red SUN
could not be photographed
with my point and shoot camera.
i tried numerous settings...
as clearly depicted in the mosaic.
i probably needed a professional camera
with a photographer's education
and a particular filter.
the photos,
still amazingly spectacular !
the evening
and my observation
still absolutlely glorious !
for the slideshow put to music and words
including facts about the SUN,

this basketball hoop
created quite the stir.
last night,
i received a phone call saying
the trick shot video
had been posted on youtube.
i have the most amazing
nieces and nephews.
(they were nice enough to invite and include noah)
when noah saw his name
on the credits.
he jumped on the bed with excitement.

i hope you will view it
and then find
your own best shot !

GARDEN OF FAITH

the lesson could not have been more perfect for me today.
maybe because
i spent five hours working in the yard yesterday.
the other reason:
FAITH
having FAITH
my FAITH has been challenged
and this reminder
was exactly what i needed.

after discussing the brother of jared,
i pulled out a poem that i had written
many years ago
regarding
alma 32:26-43
called
A GARDEN OF FAITH

i pre-cut images.
we read the poem together
and as we came to a particular verse,
the images were glued on to the paper.

each child received a packet of seeds.
then the challenge,
experiment upon the word.
what seed will i plant?
mmm faith to be healed?
primary lesson 29

GARDEN OF FAITH

plant a garden of faith
and it will grow.
remember, you'll reap
the seeds you sow.
there is no plant
if you don't try.
there are no answers
if you don't ask why.
the scriptures are tools
just like the trowel.
if you don't use them,
you won't know how.
so, if blossoms of beauty
and truth you need,
then plant my word
like a mustard seed.
but my word, the seed
alone can't grow.
so nurture and cultivate
for the works to show.
the water and sunshine,
like study and prayer
provide the smallest of seeds
with such tender care.
the glove, like my spirit,
when carefully worn,
will protect your hands
from being tattered and torn.
and when you know
the seed is good,
continue to nurture
to grow as it should.
this, the experiment upon my word,
once conducted and tried,
from the scriptures you've heard.
when the time has come
to reap your reward
for your work and your effort,
and trust in the lord.
the garden you've planted
provides a great feast
to never hunger nor thirst,
but have faith increased.

PARENTS HELP US LEARN

if i had not procrastinated,
i would have liked to have made
the home in this handout
similar to an advent calendar
where the windows open
and the answer is revealed.
there are many primary songs
that remind us
that heavenly father
gave us earthly PARENTS
to guide and direct his children
we sang our way through this lesson
using some primary songs to help us fill in the blanks.

is there anything sweeter
than
goodly PARENTS

TESTIMONY BUILDER

i always think of sunday
as a peaceful day...
away from phone calls
and running errands.

it was nice to have the morning free
or any kind of preparations
as my partner was scheduled
to give the lesson.

on the way to the classroom,
my partner's husband stopped me in the hall
and said that his wife was ill.
i did not even have my manual.

i explained the situation.
we began with prayer
and had a review of previous lessons
and then
allowed inspiration to take over.

i had some photo cards
and the letter from my niece
that is serving in honduras.
week before last,
we had a lesson on how we can be missionaries now.
i shared hermana bodine's letter.
the children selected a photo card
and wrote to missionaries.

we discussed the importance of having a testimony
so that when a missionary opportunity presents itself,
we are prepared.

a TESTIMONY
that jesus christ lives and is our savior.
he died for us and atoned for our sins.

a TESTIMONY
that jesus christ's church and gospel has been restored to
the earth and that we belong to that very church...
the church of jesus christ of latter day saints.

a TESTIMONY
that joseph smith is the prophet of the restoration. he read the bible.
he followed the bible's words to ask of god.
the heavens were opened and he saw and spoke
with god the father
and his son jesus christ

 a TESTIMONY
that a prophet leads christ's church and is the mouthpiece
for jesus through revelation.

a TESTIMONY
that the book of mormon is another testament of jesus christ
and is true.
reading the book of mormon and other scriptures will bring us
closer to god
and give us answers and direction.

there was a music stand in the corner.
the words entered my mind,
"have them practice their TESTIMONY"

i brought the music stand to the front of the classroom.
children continued on the cards
while one by one,
each shared their TESTIMONY.

for not having anything prepared,
there was an ever present lesson available
for all of us to learn and be reminded of...

TESTIMONY

WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT ?

occasionally
my father will forward an email.
some are spirititual thoughts
to uplift and encourage...l
this was just plain clever.
the ingenuity of others
left me wondering,
"NOW WHY DIDN'T
 I THINK OF THAT?"

i can hardly wait to put these
suggestions to the test:

You can flip a toaster on its side and grill cheese in it.
Description:

You can divide and store ground meat in a Ziplock bag. Just break off how much you need and keep the rest in the freezer for later!
Description:

If you place a wooden spoon over a pot of boiling water, it won't boil over!
Description:

Marshmallows can cure a sore throat. Perfect for kids who don't like medicine. Really?
Description:

You can run a paper bag through your printer!
Description:

Cereal canisters make the perfect rubbish bin for your car!
Description:

Take your bananas apart when you get home from the shop. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster....
Description:

Store your opened chunks of cheese in aluminium foil. It will stay fresh much longer and not mould!
(But you can scrape off any mould and still eat the cheese without changes in flavour!)
Description:

Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating. Peppers with 4 bumps on the bottom are stronger flavoured.
Description:

Add a teaspoon of water when frying minced beef. It will help pull the grease away from the meat while cooking.
Description:

Use a (clean) dustpan to fill a container that doesn’t fit in the sink
Description:

Place a rubber band around an open paint can to wipe your brush on, and keep paint off the side of the can
Description:

Use a staple remover to save your fingernails when trying to add things to your key ring!
Description:

How to keep the straw from rising out of your fizzy drink can
Description:

Use a micro-fibre cloth to prevent frost from forming on the windshield.
Description:

Use a comb to keep a nail steady for hammering
Description:

Use a post-it note to catch drilling debris.
