HILL-BAMA

In Mr. M's art class
he has been focusing on "dada"
and "pop art"
(which includes picture manipulation)
just maybe the chaos and contradiction of these
particular art styles, befuddled my mind
it had been a long while since i had been to the mailbox
there awaited a big stack to sort through
as i quickly separated "junk" from
  "important"
i came across an advertisement
that resulted in a long pause and trepidation
there was something oddly familiar
and yet so strange to my perception,
i just could not make sense of the cover
desperate to find a conclusion
my eyes glanced downward upon the page
part of the caption
i was looking at a combination of two important
leaders rolled up into one.
"I GET IT"
I burst out in laughter
when my mind zoomed in to what the
advertisement told me i was seeing.

did anyone else receive this puzzlement?

* searched Hill-Bama so i could credit the source of this creation...
also Wall Street Revelator and i did not see the exact direct link

MOUTH OF BABES

there has been a slight change
in my primary calling
i have moved from
the fourth grade children
to the
first grade children
i had forgotten their pure innocence

in the middle of the lesson
one of the little darlings
raised her hand
"who invented heavenly father"
the other teacher paused
then replied
"just like we will have opportunities
to become gods and goddesses
i am sure that heavinly father
had a heavenly father"
"and who invented that heavenly father?"
kind of deep for a 6 year old

then came the ctr shield to color
one of the boys
exclaimed
"coloring ! i love to color ! it is one of my
favorite hobbits !"
i love my primary class

OUR SUN PART 2

i walked over to get a better look through the glass window
it was spectacular
i could not resist even just one more photo
this time i was able to capture the reflection of the sun as well

JUST BE THERE

two profound thoughts
mrs. p. mentioned an idea
regarding young women
  cell phones
and texting
tickets for those
willing to leave their cell phones at the door
be where you are
my sister
emailed me an article
drops of
awesomeness
every little act
is a drop of awesomeness
i wanted desperately to go home
and get to work on household duties
noah wanted to play pool
"please mom"
i remembered
here was a chance for a drop of awesomenes
and a chance to be there
totally there with noah and rick
that drop of awesomeness
carried over into another game of
a trip to the library
a recipe for reindeer food
a stop at the store for ingredients
and
time together in the kitchen
 to make  a treat
at the end of the night
cuddled in bed for a bit
noah asks
"was it a fun day for you?'
it was.
it truly was.

EMOTIONAL ROLLER COASTER

Excited
today is noah's basketball game

following the christmas season
my joy comes in going to noah's basketball practices and games
Grateful
dad, noah's grandpa
was hurrying from
idaho falls just to see noah's game
Disappointed
the game was 11:00 instead of noon
Frustrated
iphoto still was not working and i had photos to upload
Relieved
share screen
and apple doctors
restore my photos back to norm
Distracted
photos?
lesson?
organize room?
file?
Happy

family togetherness
at a rare event

Grateful
that noah had such a wonderful time
YEA
warm, soft, pretzel bites

ENERGY SOLUTIONS

and all that...
tonight
was the night to cash in on one
of the six eggs
of the six geese a laying back in december

noah couldn't be more excited
we met grandma and grandpa at the marriott
for a nice dinner and conversation
then walked in all too brisk
okay frozen air
finally
the warmth of energy solutions

defrosted my burning ears
there we were as a family
enjoying a jazz basketball game
they played and beat the cavaliers

the jazz bear
as always was entertaining
(handing off babies for the refs to hold in a time out
a huge plastic tree plant placed in someone's lap
helping a young man pull off a proposal)
smiles on everyone's faces

of course
noah would want a jazz jersey
after much begging
the request was granted
noah could not get that jersey on fast enough
he slept in it

on sunday morning
noah comes down dressed for church
i spy something green underneather his sweater
yep
he had put his church clothes over his
brand new jazz jersey and basketball shots

OUR SUN

i have learned
to carry my camera everwhere i go
and though some find it to be an annoyance
you just don't what beautiful image
God will provide
i have this phrase on my wall
"PRESERVING
GOD'S BEAUTY
 ONE FRAME
AT A TIME"

i leave for work close to 8:30 each morning
today
the sky was pink
still a haze from the infamous inversion
a circle began to peer through
i picked up my camera
it was a sight to behold
following is the order
in which i observed this work of art
"OUR SUN"

i was so grateful i had my camera ready to go
as i arrived
the sky had transformed from pink
to orange
to gray
absolutely gorgeous
one right after another

DEJUNK !

Resolution #2

dejunk
dejunk everything!
the garage, the files, my closet, the boxes,
my photos
my computer
my thoughts
my regrets

letting go is so hard for me
i have boxes from delta airlines
boxes from oakridge
thinking that i need to keep it
“JUST IN CASE”

tip: for those papers you aren't ready
to part with...
scan and save on the computer and usb

a woman where i work
posted a thought
“you can’t reach
for anything new
if your hands
are still full with
yesterdays junk”

tip: if you need an extra push
let a few mice loose
their poop
will lead to a quick disposal
2 truck load fulls to the city dump
3 garbage cans on garbage day
4 trips to the DI
and i am seeing progress

ICE ICE BABY AND SOUTH JORDAN FUN

 RESOLUTION #1
make sure my promises mean something
practically every single day before and after christmas
"will you please take us skating...you promised"
true, i promised
i had ample excuses why it would not
happen on that particular day
*get ready for christmas
*too cold and no proper gear
*prepare for renters
*the mountain of laundry
 blah, blah, blah, blah, blah
(oh...so that is why the adults on the
charlie brown specials sound like they do)
it was the last saturday before i returned to work
"now or never" as noah phrased it
now i could not use the excuse of nothing to wear
we grabbed our newly purchased garb
and headed to the south jordan
fountain
skates are $2.00
(if you have the choice, pick the black over the brown
i learned the hard way one ankle blister later)
free if you have your own skates
 rather picturesque
noah was the first to brave the ice
rick called me the "tin man"
because of the ankle blister limiting my motion
6 times around, 1 sock/skate readjustment, and 1 big biff
i called it a night
the look in rick's eyes spoke the word
"wimp"
off he went with grace and flair
and a look of
"watch me go"
a short 2 feet and then to the ground
i was the "tin man" so
i couldn't help him to his feet
he literally had to roll over, crawl on the ice
until he could pull himself up on the concrete wall
i laughed until my tears froze

 again noah retorted
"you guys are an embarrassment to me"
 i warmed my hands
hypnotized and mesmirized by the fire's dance
i probably shouldn't have
but i chuckled at a spilled hot chocolate
into a row of shoes
(someone is going to have warm toes
and sweet tootsies when they get off the ice)
and off to the pie
to end our evening
with on over the top amazingly delicious pizza
a promise fulfilled
a whole lot of fun
